Sura Al Muddaththir 74

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِِ
74:1 O thou enveloped in thy cloak, Ya ayyuha almuddaththiru يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُدَّثِّرُ
74:2 Arise and warn! Qum faanthir قُمْ فَأَنذِرْ
74:3 Thy Lord magnify, Warabbaka fakabbir وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ
74:4 Thy raiment purify, Wathiyabaka fatahhir وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ
74:5 Pollution shun! Waalrrujza faohjur وَالرُّجْزَ فَاهْجُرْ
74:6 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! Wala tamnun tastakthiru وَلَا تَمْنُن تَسْتَكْثِرُ
74:7 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! Walirabbika faisbir وَلِرَبِّكَ فَاصْبِرْ
74:8 For when the trumpet shall sound, Fa-itha nuqira fee alnnaqoori فَإِذَا نُقِرَ فِي النَّاقُورِ
74:9 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, Fathalika yawma-ithin yawmun AAaseerun فَذَلِكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَوْمٌ عَسِيرٌ
74:10 Not of ease, for disbelievers. AAala alkafireena ghayru yaseerin عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ غَيْرُ يَسِيرٍ
74:11 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, Tharnee waman khalaqtu waheedan ذَرْنِي وَمَنْ خَلَقْتُ وَحِيدًا
74:12 And then bestowed upon him ample means, WajaAAaltu lahu malan mamdoodan وَجَعَلْتُ لَهُ مَالًا مَّمْدُودًا
74:13 And sons abiding in his presence Wabaneena shuhoodan وَبَنِينَ شُهُودًا
74:14 And made (life) smooth for him. Wamahhadtu lahu tamheedan وَمَهَّدتُّ لَهُ تَمْهِيدًا
74:15 Yet he desireth that I should give more. Thumma yatmaAAu an azeeda ثُمَّ يَطْمَعُ أَنْ أَزِيدَ
74:16 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. Kalla innahu kana li-ayatina AAaneedan كَلَّا إِنَّهُ كَانَ لِآيَاتِنَا عَنِيدًا
74:17 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. Saorhiquhu saAAoodan سَأُرْهِقُهُ صَعُودًا
74:18 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - Innahu fakkara waqaddara إِنَّهُ فَكَّرَ وَقَدَّرَ
74:19 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! Faqutila kayfa qaddara فَقُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ
74:20 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - Thumma qutila kayfa qaddara ثُمَّ قُتِلَ كَيْفَ قَدَّرَ
74:21 Then looked he, Thumma nathara ثُمَّ نَظَرَ
74:22 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. Thumma AAabasa wabasara ثُمَّ عَبَسَ وَبَسَرَ
74:23 Then turned he away in pride Thumma adbara waistakbara ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ وَاسْتَكْبَرَ
74:24 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; Faqala in hatha illa sihrun yu/tharu فَقَالَ إِنْ هَذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ يُؤْثَرُ
74:25 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. In hatha illa qawlu albashari إِنْ هَذَا إِلَّا قَوْلُ الْبَشَرِ
74:26 Him shall I fling unto the burning. Saosleehi saqara سَأُصْلِيهِ سَقَرَ
74:27 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - Wama adraka ma saqaru وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا سَقَرُ
74:28 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught La tubqee wala tatharu لَا تُبْقِي وَلَا تَذَرُ
74:29 It shrivelleth the man. Lawwahatun lilbashari لَوَّاحَةٌ لِّلْبَشَرِ
74:30 Above it are nineteen. AAalayha tisAAata AAashara عَلَيْهَا تِسْعَةَ عَشَرَ
74:31 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude ? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. Wama jaAAalna as-haba alnnari illa mala-ikatan wama jaAAalna AAiddatahum illa fitnatan lillatheena kafaroo liyastayqina allatheena ootoo alkitaba wayazdada allatheena amanoo eemanan wala yartaba allatheena ootoo alkitaba waalmu/minoona waliyaqoola allatheena fee quloobihim maradun waalkafiroona matha arada Allahu bihatha mathalan kathalika yudillu Allahu man yashao wayahdee man yashao wama yaAAlamu junooda rabbika illa huwa wama hiya illa thikra lilbashari وَمَا جَعَلْنَا أَصْحَابَ النَّارِ إِلَّا مَلَائِكَةً وَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ وَيَزْدَادَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِيمَانًا وَلَا يَرْتَابَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَلِيَقُولَ الَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ وَالْكَافِرُونَ مَاذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِهَذَا مَثَلًا كَذَلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللَّهُ مَن يَشَاء وَيَهْدِي مَن يَشَاء وَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُودَ رَبِّكَ إِلَّا هُوَ وَمَا هِيَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَى لِلْبَشَرِ
74:32 Nay, by the Moon Kalla waalqamari كَلَّا وَالْقَمَرِ
74:33 And the night when it withdraweth Waallayli ith adbara وَاللَّيْلِ إِذْ أَدْبَرَ
74:34 And the dawn when it shineth forth, Waalssubhi itha asfara وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا أَسْفَرَ
74:35 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) Innaha la-ihda alkubari إِنَّهَا لَإِحْدَى الْكُبَرِ
74:36 As a warning unto men, Natheeran lilbashari نَذِيرًا لِّلْبَشَرِ
74:37 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. Liman shaa minkum an yataqaddama aw yataakhkhara لِمَن شَاء مِنكُمْ أَن يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَ
74:38 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; Kullu nafsin bima kasabat raheenatun كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ رَهِينَةٌ
74:39 Save those who will stand on the right hand. Illa as-haba alyameeni إِلَّا أَصْحَابَ الْيَمِينِ
74:40 In gardens they will ask one another Fee jannatin yatasaaloona فِي جَنَّاتٍ يَتَسَاءلُونَ
74:41 Concerning the guilty: AAani almujrimeena عَنِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ
74:42 What hath brought you to this burning ? Ma salakakum fee saqara مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِي سَقَرَ
74:43 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed Qaloo lam naku mina almusalleena قَالُوا لَمْ نَكُ مِنَ الْمُصَلِّينَ
74:44 Nor did we feed the wretched. Walam naku nutAAimu almiskeena وَلَمْ نَكُ نُطْعِمُ الْمِسْكِينَ
74:45 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, Wakunna nakhoodu maAAa alkha-ideena وَكُنَّا نَخُوضُ مَعَ الْخَائِضِينَ
74:46 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, Wakunna nukaththibu biyawmi alddeeni وَكُنَّا نُكَذِّبُ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ
74:47 Till the Inevitable came unto us. Hatta atana alyaqeenu حَتَّى أَتَانَا الْيَقِينُ
74:48 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. Fama tanfaAAuhum shafaAAatu alshshafiAAeena فَمَا تَنفَعُهُمْ شَفَاعَةُ الشَّافِعِينَ
74:49 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, Fama lahum AAani alttathkirati muAArideena فَمَا لَهُمْ عَنِ التَّذْكِرَةِ مُعْرِضِينَ
74:50 As they were frightened asses Kaannahum humurun mustanfiratun كَأَنَّهُمْ حُمُرٌ مُّسْتَنفِرَةٌ
74:51 Fleeing from a lion ? Farrat min qaswaratin فَرَّتْ مِن قَسْوَرَةٍ
74:52 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). Bal yureedu kullu imri-in minhum an yu/ta suhufan munashsharatan بَلْ يُرِيدُ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ أَن يُؤْتَى صُحُفًا مُّنَشَّرَةً
74:53 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. Kalla bal la yakhafoona al-akhirata كَلَّا بَل لَا يَخَافُونَ الْآخِرَةَ
74:54 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. Kalla innahu tathkiratun كَلَّا إِنَّهُ تَذْكِرَةٌ
74:55 So whosoever will may heed. Faman shaa thakarahu فَمَن شَاء ذَكَرَهُ
74:56 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. Wama yathkuroona illa an yashaa Allahu huwa ahlu alttaqwa waahlu almaghfirati وَمَا يَذْكُرُونَ إِلَّا أَن يَشَاء اللَّهُ هُوَ أَهْلُ التَّقْوَى وَأَهْلُ الْمَغْفِرَةِ
